Kutting Out

I keep hearing that the Kardashian's credit card was a scam but here is an article provided by USA Today:

By Rachel Beck, AP Business Writer
NEW YORK — The Kardashian sisters are seeking to cut ties with a venture that sold prepaid debit cards under their name after coming under attack for the card's high fees.

The card, which launched three weeks ago, was aimed at young adults, the same group that watches the sisters' hit cable TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

An attorney for the sisters sent a letter Monday to parties affiliated with the card asking them to immediately stop using the names and images of the three sisters.

The notice came after Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal warned on Friday that he would investigate the program to see if it violated state laws to protect consumers. He called the card's fees "predatory."

The Kardashians — Kim, Khloe and Kourtney — launched the card on Nov. 10, with much fanfare. The "Kardashian Kard" includes a picture of the trio on one side, and the sisters said at the time of the launch they were "excited ... to create their very own financial product."

But almost immediately the Kardashians came under attack by consumer advocates for attaching their names to a card with fees that far surpassed other prepaid debit cards on the market.

"The Kardashians have worked extremely long and hard to create a positive public persona that appeals to everyone, particularly young adults," says the letter from Dennis Roach, legal counsel of Dash Dolls LLC, which represents the three sisters. "Unfortunately, the negative spotlight turned on the Kardashians."

Just to buy the card and use it costs $59.95 for six months, or $99.95 for 12 months. That does not include any money on the card. The person buying the card must add money onto it.

The initial feels were just the start. After those six or 12 months are up, it costs $7.95 a month to keep using the card. Users have to pay $1.50 to withdraw cash from an ATM, and $1 to check their balance. Talking to a customer representative on the phone costs $1.50 for each call, and canceling the card costs $6.

Losing the card results in a charge of $9.95. If the loss is reported within two days, then losses are limited to $50. But if the loss or theft is not reported, and the issuer believes the user knew it was lost or stolen, then losses could be as high as $500, according to the terms and conditions on the Kardashian Kard website.

Those fees caught the attention of Blumenthal, who said on Friday that he was investigating the card because of the fees and its appeal to financially unsophisticated young adults.

"Keeping up with the Kardashians is impossible with this card, where consumers lose money before they use money. Even before consumers spend a dime, the Kardashian Kard fees swallow the card's value," Blumenthal said in a statement Monday after news that the Kardashians were cutting ties to the card.

Representatives for the companies affiliated with the card — Sunrise Community Banks, University National Bank, Mobe Inc., Mobile Resources Card and MasterCard— did not return requests for comment.

Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports, had come out strongly in recent weeks against the Kardashians for using their celebrity status to hawk a prepaid card loaded with fees.

"Any other celebrity or business that is thinking of associating its name with a prepaid card should take a close look at the fees and protections, and say 'no thanks' unless the fees are low and the missing consumer protections are added," Gail Hillebrand, director of Consumers Union's Defend Your Dollars campaign, said after hearing Monday's news.

Consumer Union is calling on the newly authorized federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to make reining in abusive prepaid card practices a top priority.

Rihanna GQ January 2011

Rihanna is this month's cover girl for GQ UK and she speaks on several topics regarding Chris Brown and her image:

Comments on her image:
“Girls don’t like to see other girls dressed sexy. I get that. People see my ass out and my boobs out, so it can get a little irritating”.

 More comments about Chris Brown
“Sometimes when you’re on the inside of a relationship like that, you can’t see it clearly for what it is. I left – it was the best feeling. It was so freeing…I witnessed it happening to my mum and I said I would never let that happen to me – and then it was happening. Now, when I look back, it bugs me out that I couldn’t see it for what it was.”
I wish her and Chris the best in their future but this subject is old and the only way they can move on is to stop discussing the incident.

Nicki Minaj On Live with Regis & Kelly 11-29-2010

Interesting indeed

Building A Brand

Branding at it's best no matter how they became famous, you can't deny the fact that they have taken full advantage of their name and brand. The sister's new book is in stores now.

Get It Wolf

I just learned how to Dougie too.....

Congrats to the Peas

They will be performing at the Super Bowl next year during half time. Thank God they decided to go with a current music act because during this year's game I was wonder who was The Who.

Also their new cd The Beginninng will be in stores tomorrow

Celebs are exiting Twitter

on Dec 1st for a good cause to raise money for Alicia Keys foundation and they will sign back on after they raise one million dollars but this ad is a little to weird for me:

I understand the shock factor but I would not want to be photographed in a coffin....

Keri Hilson Feat. Rick Ross - The Way You Love Me (Official Video)

Jay-z Stay Winning

Decoded is in at number three on the bestsellers list.... he is a business man! Let him handle his business damn

Catching Up

I have not blogged in almost a month and now I am ready to tackle it full time, but first there are some things I need to discuss.

SPORTS

The Miami Heat- I had such high hopes for them coming into the season and they are on fail status for now. I heart LeBron so much but he is not playing to his full potential this year and I am disappointed.

The Texans- I love my hometown team but when will Gary get fired? He should been gone last season. I keep thinking about how they passed on Vince Young years ago but now I do not know about that decision, because he has been acting childish grow up Vince.

Since I am clowning the Texans might as well speak on the Rockets really....they are having a piss poor season I am beyond mad at them. I want Yao to retire like yesterday he is unless and he stay hurt.

Are they Yankees going to sign Jeter? It will be so weird to see him on another team

Why isn't the NFL giving the Falcons any respect? They are now 9-2 and they keep rolling.

I thought Brett retired last week.

Mike Vick, I love his story it is a true story of redemption and believing in yourself he is my current MVP pick I hope he wins it.

TV

So many shows so little time.

Modern Family continues to be my favorite

I tried to get into The Event but I can't it is too confusing or maybe I am slow *shrugs*

Glee is still the best show to address teen issues as far as bullying and sexuality and Sue is the best. Period.

SVU keeps rolling I can not believe the show has been on for years and continues to be good each season.

Raising Hope on FOX is a new hilarious show it is my guilty pleasure it is written well and acted wonderfully.

Real Housewives of Atlanta is just a mess but I can not turn away from it....scripted and all.

Last Night

I was highly disappointed in the turn out last night, I could never understand why people do not exercise their right to vote. People died for the right to vote and people these days do not care but are always the first one to complain when things don't go their way. Voting for President Obama in 2008 was half the battle but most people feel like 'Hey we got him in there and I done' which is extremely sad.

I hope and pray that both sides can put aside their differences and work on the side of the people and not themselves. I am always surprise by how much money some senators and congressman have and yet they still make decisions that will hurt the middle class and the poor.

I wish America would put more money into job creation China has just passed us with the fastest computers and the computers where invented in America. They should also upgrade the light systems because a blackout should never be allowed to happen in any city. I pray they can work with President Obama and sit their personal feelings aside. I have never seen a President be so disrespected and it irks me to no end. Bush had to be one of the worst Presidents in recent memory but he was always treated with respect. Except that time the shoes were tossed at him with was hilarious LOL.

*jumps off soapbox*

Life....

is good I may not be where I want to be but I am not where I use to be....
